Sonic Cherry Slush Copycat Recipe

After a dental surgery, all that existed to me in the world was Sonic Drive-In. My hero husband drove two towns over to get me to one.

This is a recipe that allows you to get your slushie fix, without putting on pants. The recipe is open to interpretation; you can add sugar, change up the juices, add fresh fruit. You are the boss of this recipe.

Cheery Cherry Slushies:

In a blender, pour:

  • 1 can lemon-lime soda
  • 2 cups 100% cherry juice (in this case, Cherry Pomegranate)
  • HALF a packet of Cherry Kool-Aid
  • 1/3rd a cup of Splenda OR alternatively 1/4 cup of sugar. Modify to taste.

Fill blender 4/5ths of the way with ice

Blend until desired consistency

Serve IMMEDIATELY*

This recipe makes about 4 servings, because I have pesky kids giving me the “Where’s mine?” face.
If a little vodka somehow sneaks into your recipe, who are we to judge?

I’m an aunt!

New aunt

I became an aunt this week!

I was even able to be in the room when she was born. I was an an oncology appointment with my father (who has plasma cancer, but is doing very well) & popped up to check on my sister-in-law.

But she was transitioning into active labor at the time & the father wasn’t there yet, so I got to stay!

It was fantastic. She’s just beautiful & healthy & is a whole bundle of precious. My SIL did great through the whole labor, was perky & happy even during the most intense contractions.

Definitely one of my top days ever. I am tickled pink to be an aunt. I can’t wait to watch this little princess grow up.

Seattle Japanese Garden Heron

On a lovely 2 Days in Seattle trip, my daughter & I visited the Seattle Japanese Garden. It was blustery day (our umbrella turned inside out, like in the movies!), so we practically had the park to ourselves. This provided lots of time for my daughter to practice her landscape sketching.

Seattle Japanese Garden

This Great Blue Heron is apparently a regular resident of the garden. He was so beautiful & still that for a long time, I thought he was a statue! I was SO MAD that I had forgotten my camera & only had my phone camera with us.

The Seattle Japanese Garden is open March 1st through November 30th & costs less than $10 a person to visit. The garden is beautiful even in late winter, but puts on a spectacular show in the spring & summer.
